Independence
Why would I wave a flag and say "Mera Bharat Mahan" when I see a female silenced by society whenever something goes by saying "it's alright, be thankful that it wasn't worse"? By
They have been suppressed domestically and socially to an extent that it has become the new norm.
The voices that are heard, "you're not the only one," "what will happen if you raise your voice," "you can't change anything," "forget about it," "you're stronger now," "don't tell anyone," to any incident that occurs with women, traumatize women beyond their capacity; they just become numb to this society.
What would I celebrate,
when every day, there is a constant fear for a female of being followed by someone at any point in time,
when she is always cautious, her breath shortens when approached by a stranger,
when she is always recommended to keep something for her protection, in case something goes wrong.
Society says, "A man can do anything and yes he can!" A woman, on the other hand, can also do anything, provided she stays within her limits, takes utmost care not to provoke anyone, and doesn't forget to follow all the rules and regulations laid by the male-dominated society. How can I say "Happy Independence Day!"
Anything that happens to a female of any age will be criticized as her fault by finding some or the other reason, which is beyond my comprehension.
Parents at home, on the other hand, can never be at ease and let their daughters roam independently. They impose millions of regulations and strict measures that they think are needed for protection.
I can't blame them after seeing what happens to a female in our society. I can't go against their thoughts, but at the same time, I don't have the heart to say it's not enough! That things happen in the "safest" place.
The world is beautiful for a female, if and only if... At this point, I'm at a loss for words. I don't know how a female should be to not face any harassment...
Go check with your loved ones. If you don't find at least one instance where she was wronged by a male, I will publicly apologize for this opinion!
To think that society considers that a female in India/the world is living a privileged life, boils my blood.
